Reaching Out

Prison Ministry

Each week a group of people go to Zephyrhills Correctional Institution and meet with inmates who are seeking to learn more about God, His Word, and desire to have a relationship with Jesus. We have praise and worship music, and then one of the volunteers teaches a lesson from the Bible to a large group of inmates. After the lesson we have small group discussions on the topic. Each inmate is able to ask questions, express opinions about the lesson, and decide how God’s Word applies to his life.

God has sent the volunteers to the prison to minister to the inmates because many men have no family and they lead lonely lives in prison, never being loved or helped by other people. God tells us to "love our neighbor as ourselves."  Showing God's love through Prison Ministry helps those who have no family know that they have God's family to love and appreciate them, because God loves them.

Homeless Ministry

Our goal, in the Homeless Ministry, is to demonstrate God's love for people and help them: SPIRITUALLY – with the selected passages from the Bible printed and read in English and Spanish – prayer – fellowship; MEDICALLY – with a physician available every week on-site to discuss medical issues; and PHYSICALLY – with a warm, fresh, home-cooked meal, complete with salad and dessert – clothing – personal hygiene items – household things – and bicycles, when possible.

People from a number of churches and organizations gather at First Baptist Church of Lutz at 3pm every Thursday to prepare a hot meal.  We leave the church to serve on the street at Livingston and Fletcher at 6:00pm – rain or shine. We have the opportunity to serve 125-150 meals, every single Thursday.
